Performance Swimming
Lincoln Vulcans Swimming Club are Lincolnshire's premier performance swimming club. Our squads contain International swimmers, National and Regional finalists and a large number of competitors at County level. We compete in a number of league competitions including the National Junior League, Lincs League and National Arena Swimming League. We regularly qualify for National finals at both junior and senior team level and a growing number of former members have progressed to Olympic participation.
We are a Swim 21 performance club which welcomes swimmers who wish to develop their competitive swimming abilities. Swim 21 is at the core of the ASA's club development programme. We have been awarded Swim 21 at all 5 levels of accreditation - Foundation (Masters), Teaching/Coaching, Skill Development, Competitive Development and Performance.
A progressive training programme based on the ASA Long Term Athlete Development framework underpins the ethos of the club and ensures that we are able to offer swimmers the best possible environment to develop their skills and abilities and progress to the highest level possible.
Learn-to-Swim
Lincoln Vulcans Learn-to-Swim provides professional tuition for children who want to learn to swim or improve their technical swimming skills. We take swimmers from the age of four and a half. The Learn-to-Swim team operates under the guidance of Ollie Greenwood and his qualified team and uses the pools at Yarborough and North Kesteven.
Initially, for beginners, emphasis is placed on being safe, comfortable and confident in the water. Skills in all of the main swimming strokes are then developed in structured groups where each swimmer's progress is carefully monitored. Once the basic swimming skills have been acquired, swimmers are able to develop their techniques with tuition in areas such as starts and racing turns.
Those who wish to join social or training squads within Lincoln Vulcans are invited to do so. This provides the children with the opportunity to take part in small friendly competitions, or just to swim socially with a group of swimmers with similar skills. Many of our competitive swimmers have progressed through our Learn-to-Swim scheme.
Further details of the Learn-to-Swim Teaching Levels are available here.
