Volunteering at Lincoln Vulcans

To Parents and Swimmers aged 14 and over,

We will be running Timekeeper, Judge 1, Judge 2 and Starters Courses over the next few months.

To run a club gala the minimum number of officials required is 23 (2 Refs, 1 Starter, 2 Ch T/k, 6 Judges and 12 Timekeepers). In addition we need an announcer, runners, recorders, team managers, people to hand out refreshments and people to take monies from spectators at the door.

With some of the older swimmers retiring (and taking their parents with them!!) the club is becoming short of officials and this is a plea to all of you to consider helping out at galas. The initial entry level would be timekeeper, if you were to volunteer and enjoy the experience you could continue with further qualifications or remain as a club timekeeper – the choice is yours.

Information can be found on the British Swimming Website or by emailing me.

The more volunteers we have, the less frequently we have to call on you!

The majority of the officials have NO swimmers at the club and it is not always convenient for them to give up their Saturday nights as they have families too. There are many new swimmers now enjoying training with Lincoln Vulcans so we hope that some new parents will also step forward to help out.

Please give some thought to volunteering in some capacity or other, if we do not have enough officials and helpers it will become very difficult to organise galas and open meets.

The costs of the courses and CRB checks will be met by Lincoln Vulcans, so all we ask is your time and effort!
