2009 BRITISH GAS GRAND PRIX: day four report

A fantastic day to finish off 3 weeks of top racing from Vulcans swimmers embracing the National Age Group Championships and the National Youth Championships in Sheffield, the Welsh Nationals in Swansea, the Tri-Nation Championships in London and finally the British Swimming Grand Prix in Leeds.

Head Coach Fred Fruniss told the three girls to really go for it in the heats this morning - and he was not disappointed by the results!

Mollie Temple was first in the water today and swam a superb 2.18.57 - almost a full second PB in the 200 backstroke and a place in the B final where she put in a solid near PB second performance.

Hayley Williams swam to her PB with 26.92 in the 50 freestyle - another solid sprint performance - great swim!

Sophie Allen then rounded off her outstanding performances in the championships with a lifetime best time of 4.44.02 in the 400 IM and finished the Championships on a high.

Team-mate Mollie qualified for the B final with 5.03.79 and decided to take on both finals this evening. In the 400 IM Mollie pulled out all the stops and finsihed the Championships with a new lifetime best of 4.58.26 - over 5 seconds faster than she swam this morning.

A warm congratulations to all our swimmers involved in these Championships - a great summer of swimming for Lincoln Vulcans. Well done to all.
