Franks battles to fourth place

SWIMMER Rebecca Franks brushed off suspected appendicitis to claim a brilliant fourth place in the 100m butterfly at British Disability Championships in Sheffield.

The North Kesteven School pupil, 14, spent two days in hospital two weeks ago, but still produced a blistering display at Ponds Forge at the weekend.

Rebecca narrowly missed out on a medal in the youth final of the 100m butterfly, which saw her shave a mammoth 14 seconds of her personal best.

The Lincoln Vulcans swimmer also improved her PB in 400m freestyle by an incredible 23 seconds. She improved her times in the 200m individual medley by 13 seconds, the 100m breaststroke by eight seconds, the 100m freestyle by five seconds and 100m backstroke by two seconds.

Rebecca's next big event is Welsh Open in Swansea on May 7.
