Vulcans triumph at Counties

Lincoln Vulcans retained their position as the leading performance swim club in Lincolnshire after a strong showing at the recent County Championships. A total of 107 gold, 62 silver and 56 bronze age group medals along with 38 gold, 40 silver and 24 bronze Championship medals reflected the strong performances from club swimmers from the ages of 9 to 16 and over. In the 50m Freestyle "Skins" finals the Vulcans also won the Senior Boys and both Junior Boys and Junior Girls trophies.

The cream of Lincolnshire swimmers took part in a number of galas over 3 weekends with swimmers from 8 different clubs taking part, including a number of national and international competitors. The County Championships can serve as a springboard to higher competitions and Vulcan swimmers achieved over 120 Midland Championship qualifying times along with a further 4 National qualifying times.

Head coach, Hugh Dokter, said "all of the swimmers have worked hard in training in the build-up to this year's competition. The results they have achieved are down to their dedication and hard work. It is a great platform for the rest of the season. I am especially pleased with the results of the new members of the National squad, who have settled in well and have made great progress over the last 2 months."

Swimmer Development coach, Andrew Mason, added "there were countless personal best performances from the younger swimmers and it is great for them to receive recognition for their hard work. Even though they are at the beginning of their swimming pathway, they see the tremendous achievements of the national level swimmers and realise that hard work and dedication to training can lead to great success. Watching the top performers in the county, regardless of which club they train for, is a tremendous inspiration to the next generation of swimmers."
