Another Record Falls To Vulcan Swimmer

Following the success of Abigail Burr in breaking the Lincoln Vulcans club record set by Olympian Lizzie Simmonds in the 200 Freestyle, swimmer Brad Westlake has gone a step further and beaten Paul Palmer's long-standing County record in the 100m Freestyle.
Paul Palmer, former Olympian swimmer with Lincoln Pentaqua, set the County record for 100m Freestyle in 1991 and the record had remained unbeaten until Brad swam a time of 52.06 in the final gala of the Vulcans Club Championships.
Brad's next event is the British Gas National Youth Championship where he will be competing, alongside other Lincoln Vulcan teammates, against the best in the country. Head Coach, Fred Furniss, was delighted with Brad's performance commenting "Brad has had an excellent year and the new County Record is further testament to his improving ability. Paul Palmer's record had survived for over 20 years and it took a very special swim by Brad to beat it."
