2009 NATIONAL YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS: day two report

The first event today was the womens 100 backstroke and Mollie Temple produced a fine swim with a PB of 1 second to gain her place in today's semi. final this afternoon with an impressive 1.07.17.

Charlie Bitowt was next up for the 100 freestyle and also swam well to produce a half second PB with 56.05.

The boys 4x200 freestyle relay team swam an average race (by their own standards) showing an area for great improvemnet and potential for the 2010 Nationals. Despite drawing lane 1 to swim in, Head Coach Fred Furniss said that they lacked 'relay mentality' in today's swim and that this would definitely change by their next National performance.

In the afternoon in the women's 800 freestyle Lauren Freeman swam a well-paced race producing a 7-second PB finishing in 9.24.03 while Grace Conlon also swam a solid race with 9.19.03 coming in 5 seconds ahead of her entry time of 9.24.32.

In the 14/15 semi final Mollie Temple produced another 1.07 time to consolidate this morning's PB.

Great swims everyone!
